From 1900 a month at Woolies to 7000 a month with Karmik AI

For three years I stacked trolleys, packed online orders, and ran the night fill shift at Woolies. The pay was 1900 dollars a month. Some weeks more, some weeks less, but that number was the ceiling I kept hitting. I had a CV with real skills on it. I was sending out applications most evenings. Nothing was landing. Karmik AI is the tool I built to fix that. This is the story of how it took me from 1900 a month to interviews above 7000.

If you have ever worked retail, you already know the loop. Shift starts at six. Boots on. Trolleys collected. Online orders picked. Backroom restocked. By the time the shift ends you are too tired to write a cover letter that sounds like a real human being. So you copy paste. So the recruiters never reply. The honest truth is that the system was built for people with time, energy, and a network. I had none of those things, and I was burning out trying to fake all three.

I started building Karmik AI as a survival tool, not a startup. I wanted something that could take a job description, read my CV, and write a real cover letter while I was on the bus to my next shift. Not a template. Not a generic paragraph. Something that sounded like me on my sharpest day. I wired it up to apply on the boards I was targeting, track every application, and surface the roles where my skills actually matched. The first version was rough but it did one thing well. It removed the part of the job hunt that was killing me, which was the typing.

Six weeks after I started using Karmik AI on myself, I had an offer at 5000 dollars a month. More than double Woolies. It was a stepping stone role, not the dream gig, but it changed everything overnight. I could pay rent without watching my bank balance like a hawk. I could buy a real laptop instead of borrowing one. And most importantly, I had proof. Proof that I was not lazy, not unqualified, not bad at applying. I was just buried under a process that nobody should have to do by hand in 2026.

Here is the part most career advice misses. Once you get the first stepping stone, the next move is exponentially easier. Recruiters start reaching out to you instead of the other way around. Interview practice compounds quickly. Your evidence stack grows. Karmik AI kept doing the heavy lifting on tailored applications, but the conversations I was walking into were completely different now. I went from defending why I deserved a chance to negotiating which offer to take.

Today I am interviewing for roles in the 7000 plus a month band. Some of them are nearly four times what I earned at Woolies a year ago. Karmik AI did not magically write me a new background. It did something more useful. It made the act of job hunting cheap, fast, and repeatable, which meant I could keep swinging until the right swing connected.

If you are in the position I was in, working a job that pays the bills but caps your ceiling, I want you to take two things from this. First, the problem is not you. The problem is that traditional job hunting is a full time job sitting on top of your real job, and almost nobody has the energy to do both well. Second, AI changes the maths in your favour. Karmik AI takes the work that used to take eleven hours a week and turns it into eleven minutes a day. That is not a tiny improvement. That is the difference between staying stuck and actually moving.

I built Karmik AI because I needed it. I am writing this because the people I talk to every week still need it. If you are running shifts, juggling kids, finishing uni, or just exhausted from being ignored by application portals, give it a real try. The story I told you above is not a sales pitch. It is what actually happened to me. The moment something similar happens to you, you will understand why I cannot shut up about this product.
